Roc has worked on methodologies for modelling geophysical and social phenomena and perceptual bias at Bristol, Pennsylvania State, and University College London. They have attended the Rockefeller Foundation, Bellagio in Italy and the NATO Advanced Studies Institute at Bonas in France.
They are a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. They were a founder member of the Archipelago Forum, canvassing the Staffa Archipelago as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and have campaigned successfully against the damaging consequences of salmon farming both in the Archipelago and globally, while working to reform salmon aquaculture.
Roc has been involved with Extinction Rebellion since inception and co-founded Extinction Rebellion's Catalyser program of dialogue with people in places of power.
They attended the World Economic Forum at Davos in January 2020, where they presented to high-level audiences an uncompromising message of emergency and the currently inadequate policy response and timescale.
Roc is a writer and artist and lives off-grid on the Hebridean Island of Gometra.
